Welcome to the Board of Directors of the Société des Professionnels Italiens du Nucléaire en France (SPIN). Our board is composed of Italian nuclear professionals who are passionate of their work. They are involved in promoting open discussion and collaboration in the nuclear energy sector and in disseminating accurate information. Each board member brings a wealth of experience and insight, playing an integral role in shaping the direction and policies of SPIN.
We invite you to learn more about each of our board members below.
Massimo holds a MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome. He began his career in radioactive waste management at SOGIN (Rome) and the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (Paris). From 2019 to 2024, he worked at Framatome (Paris) as a technical lead specializing in PWR core design and safety studies. In 2024, Massimo joined Newcleo as technical coordinator of the LFR core design unit. He is one of the founding members and the initial president of the association, and was reappointed president of SPIN following its first General Assembly last year.
Alberto holds a MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Torino and Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and a PhD from Chalmers University of Technology and the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). He is currently employed as Research Engineer at CEA-Saclay. His main interests are: nuclear thermal-hydraulics, fluid mechanics, data analysis and uncertainty quantification.
Claudia holds a MSc in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a PhD from the Ohio State University affiliated with Électricité de France (EDF), focused on dynamic probabilistic risk assessment of nuclear power plants. Since 2019, she has been working as a research engineer at EDF R&D, focusing on probabilistic risk analysis.
Francesco holds a MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome and a PhD from the National Higher French Institute of Aeronautics and Space and the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). He initially worked at Framatome on safety studies for nuclear power plants and project management. Afterwards, he moved to Assystem, where he managed various teams involved in the delivery of data and artificial intelligence projects for the nuclear industry. He is currently employed in Lutech Italy as Solution Architect.
Riccardo holds a MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome and a PhD in Machine Learning and Statistics from CentraleSupélec and the French Atomic Energy Commission. He is currently working as a Data Scientist at Assystem on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twins.
Davide is a business manager at the Pôle Aval du Cycle Durable of EDF's Nuclear Fuel Division (DCN), where he manages R&D and subjects related to the storage of spent fuel. Before joining the DCN, Davide worked at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, where he coordinated and managed international activities and projects related to fuel and structural materials. He also worked in R&D at EDF in the Materials and Components Mechanics department. Davide holds a PhD in materials modeling for nuclear applications and a degree in theoretical physics from ENS-Lyon.
Emanuele holds a MSc in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (1999) and a PhD in plasma physics (laser fusion) from École Polytechnique (2003). He has been working at Framatome for 22 years, holding various positions in production and R&D, mainly in the Core Design and Transient Analysis department and in the Codes & Methods department. He has been R&D domain leader in Core Physics and Project Manager of the ODYSSEE project (new EDF and Framatome nuclear simulation platform). He is currently General Manager of Framatome Italy, a new branch opened end of 2024 in Milan and Turin. He is Framatome Fellow Expert in Core Physics. Member of the SFEN and the AIN, he was a cofounder of the SPIN.
Alessandro holds a M2 in Energetic and Nuclear engineering from Grenoble INP-Phelma University. He worked for five years at CEA Cadarache on sodium-cooled fast neutron reactors, then at EDF's headquarters in Marseille as a hydraulic-studies engineer on PWR safety systems. Since July 2024, he has been working as a process engineer at Newcleo.
Antonio holds an MSc in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Pisa and a PhD in Numerical Models for Nuclear Boiling from Brunel University London. He has worked at EDF since 2010 and is currently head of the ‘Gen4Cycle & AMR’ project, which coordinates EDF's R&D activities on Generation IV nuclear reactors, multi-recycling of nuclear spent fuel and advanced modular reactors, with a particular focus on closing the fuel cycle for a sustainable use of nuclear fuel.
Lucia holds a Msc in Nuclear Engineering from the university of Pisa and a PhD from the Pierre and Marie Curie University on fluid structure interaction for hexagonal assemblies and very narrow gaps. She has been a researcher in thermal hydraulics and uncertainty quantification at CEA-Saclay since 2015.
Marco holds a MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Torino and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Delft University of Technology. After a post-doctoral period at the French Atomic Energy Commission, he joined EDF R&D in 2022, where he mainly works on the validation of EDF's new neutronics code platform ODYSSEE.
